When I first opened my real estate business in the historic Clock Tower building on Main Street in Suncook Village, I quickly realized how special this place truly is. The small businesses, the neighbors who greet each other by name, the church penny sales, and the best Old Home Day I’ve ever attended (sorry, Hooksett!) all spoke to me.
I grew up in Hooksett, but when I discovered Suncook a few years ago, I knew immediately that this community would hold a piece of my heart. There’s a sense of pride here—a comforting, welcoming spirit that feels like coming home to grandma’s house, where you just know everything will be okay.
That spirit is what inspired The Suncook Times.
This paper was born out of conversations with fellow downtown business owners, who all agreed: Suncook, Pembroke, and Allenstown deserved their own newspaper. At first, I laughed and said, “That sounds like a lot of work—I don’t have time for that!” But the idea stayed with me. And now, here we are.
The Suncook Times is dedicated to serving Allenstown, Pembroke, and Suncook Village with community-centered reporting. Our focus is on:
As much as this is a labor of love, it also requires real resources to print, distribute, and maintain both the print edition and our website thesuncooktimes.com. I am relying on the support of our local businesses through advertising, both in print and online, to keep this publication alive and growing.
I deeply believe that small businesses here still recognize the power of print advertising—it truly works. And in this area, where people cherish “the old school ways” of connecting, it makes sense. Print matters. It reaches those in our community who aren’t on social media, those who may be homebound, or those who simply appreciate a physical paper in their hands.
My goal is simple but ambitious: to publish The Suncook Times every month, circulating through local businesses until we have enough advertising and sponsorship support to mail it directly to every household in Allenstown and Pembroke. The sooner businesses choose to advertise—or families and community members step forward with sponsorships—the sooner we can make that dream a reality, ensuring that every neighbor has equal access to trustworthy local news.
If you are a local business, I ask you to consider advertising with us. If you are a family or community member who believes in the importance of local, independent news, you can sponsor the paper. And if you have a passion for writing, photography, or reporting, I’d love to talk with you about volunteering your talents.
Together, we can make The Suncook Times not just a newspaper, but a cornerstone of community connection and pride.
With gratitude,
Tony LaCasse
